I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: 2025 does not like heavy metal. In a shocking turn of events, Niko Vuorela, guitarist of Finnish band Temple Balls, has passed away. The band revealed the news via social media. On behalf of the Chaoszine team, I’d like to extend my deepest sympathies to Niko’s family, friends and loved ones.
It’s with unbearable sadness that we have to share that our brother, Niko, passed away yesterday around 11 a.m., after more than three years of living with cancer.
Niko’s talent and passion for music were unmatched. He helped shape Temple Balls into what it is today — pushing us creatively, inspiring us, and raising our music to new heights both in the studio and on stage. His playing, his songwriting, and his energy became a huge part of the band’s heartbeat.
Off stage, Niko was pure light — funny, sharp, kind, and always ready to make everyone laugh. His laughter could fill a room and his presence made every day brighter. The hole he leaves in our lives is beyond words.
For a while, it looked like things were getting better, but during the last few months, his condition took a sudden turn and he finally left us.
Right now, we don’t know what the future holds for Temple Balls. Ever since Niko joined the band, he’s been an inseparable part of our journey — his influence and spirit are woven into everything we’ve done. However, the upcoming album will be released, as it was Niko’s wish — a reflection of his passion and spirit.
Over the past eight years, we’ve experienced so much together — travels, emotions, and dreams fulfilled — it’s impossible to put into words.
We need time to process what’s happened and to grieve our brother. We ask that everyone please give his family, loved ones, and us the space and respect to cope with this immense loss. We won’t be commenting on this matter any further.
