Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has spoken about frontman Vince Neil’s health and the preparation that went into the band’s recent The Return Of Carnival Of Sins tour. The comments appeared in an interview with USA Today published on October 24.
Vince doesn’t want to pull any punches and we didn’t want to do any songs that maybe were too much on him. But he was, like, ‘I’m in.’ I want to do ‘Red Hot’. I love these songs. He really came to work and was sounding good pre-production. But once we hit the stage, he really came alive. He just wanted to be the best he could be … He’s taken a lot of bricks in the face over the years for his vocals live and he doesn’t like seeing that kind of stuff. So he really wanted to come in and not only prove to himself but to the fans that he’s vocally totally capable.
Sixx also acknowledged that public criticism of the singer’s concert vocals has been difficult for Neil. The bassist said the frontman wanted to prove to himself and the audience that he could still deliver onstage. His comments put the singer’s performance goals in the context of his recovery rather than making any new announcement about his condition.
The band has already announced its next Las Vegas residency, Carnival Of Sins In Sin City, scheduled for eight shows between March 12 and April 3, 2027.
