Iron Maiden’s former touring drummer Nicko McBrain believes the heavy metal legends will keep performing until another member feels unable to continue. He discussed the band’s longevity and his own possible studio involvement during an appearance on Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt’s Rockonteurs podcast.

McBrain, who retired from touring with Maiden in December 2024, said he sees no immediate sign that the remaining musicians are ready to call time on the band. He suggested that adjusting the pacing of some older songs could be one way of allowing the group to continue playing live for longer.

Speaking about what might ultimately bring Maiden’s career to an end, McBrain said:

“I personally think that they’ll go until somebody else in the band says, ‘I can’t do it anymore.’”

The drummer also reiterated that he would welcome a guest appearance on a few tracks should Iron Maiden decide to make another studio album. He stressed that he would not expect to record an entire LP, with Simon Dawson now occupying the drum stool on tour. No new album or McBrain recording appearance has been announced.

McBrain played his final Iron Maiden show in São Paulo on December 7, 2024. His memoir, Hello Boys And Girls!, was published on October 22, 2026, and he is currently touring a spoken-word show in support of the book.
