There are new revelations about the death of Sam Rivers, the bassist and co-founder of Limp Bizkit, last weekend, as reported by theprp. Authorities in St. Johns County, Florida responded to a call for a “nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest” this past Saturday, October 18, according to TMZ. The deputies stated that they responded to the scene as part of a “attended death” call, but the St. Johns County Sheriff’s office has not yet determined the cause of death. This typically indicates that a licensed healthcare provider was present and that the deceased had been suffering from a severe or life-threatening condition, with death being the likely consequence within a few weeks or months.

Since Rivers was spotted wearing a shirt that read “fuck cancer” while on tour, as was widely reported in the post below that his bandmate DJ Lethal shared following Rivers’ death, there has been conjecture among the group’s fan base that Rivers may have been battling the illness. In this statement, the band revealed that Rivers, 48, had passed away on October 18. A day following Rivers’ death, Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst posted a heartfelt video statement in which he reflected on how important Rivers was to the band. A couple of years ago, Rivers had been sidetracked by health problems, including a liver transplant caused by his battles with addiction.

The following statement was released yesterday, October 20, by a promoter for the band’s scheduled November 29th live engagement at the Explanada del Estadio Banorte in Mexico City, Mexico, suggesting that the nu metal stars will likely continue.

We deeply regret the passing of Sam Rivers, founding bassist of Limp Bizkit, whose talent and legacy marked generations and will continue to resonate in every note of his music.

In such a significant moment for the band and its fans, Limp Bizkit has decided to continue with its performance on November 29th at the Explanada Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, as part of its ‘Gringo Papi Tour‘ 2025.

That night, every riff and every scream of the crowd will resonate in honor of the great legacy Sam offered to to Nu-Metal, because his energy will never cease.

See you soon!
