Only a few days have passed after the terrible San Diego private aviation disaster that claimed six lives. All we really knew at first was that the plane, carrying heavyweight music agent Dave Shapiro, 42, and Daniel Williams, 39, a former drummer for The Devil Wears Prada, crashed into a neighborhood close to the Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport, where it was scheduled to land. We now know a little bit more about the other people who perished in the crash, as well as additional variables that probably played a role in it in the first place. The Cessna 550 Citation was registered to Shapiro and his Alaska-based business, Daviator LLC, however it has not yet been disclosed if he was really piloting it. Only two miles from its target, the jet struck some power wires in heavy fog, causing it to crash at around four in the morning. Investigators now claim that the runway lights at the airport were off that night, in addition to the dense fog and malfunctioning weather alert system. The pilot addressed the poor visibility but chose to “give it a go” in spite of it, according to their LiveATC records. The conversation between Shapiro downstairs and the airport tower is audible. All six of the plane’s passengers died, while no one on the ground suffered serious injuries. Two of them, Emma Huke, 25, and Kendall Forter, 24, were employed by Shapiro’s firm, Sound Talent Group, which represented well-known performers including Pierce the Veil, Parkway Drive, Sum 41, and even Vanessa Carlton. The sole reason Celina Marie Rose Kenyon, a 36-year-old mother and photographer who was friendly with everyone on the aircraft, took the flight was to return in time to drop her kid off at school in the morning. Dominic Christopher Damian, 41, the final deceased, was a well-known and respected martial artist in the community. Officials said the crash investigation is still ongoing and may take more than a year to finish.
