The event “Back to the Beginning” of last Saturday has had quite an impact, not only musically speaking. It raised more than 190 million dollars! Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello, who had been the event’s musical director, shared the news on Instagram, revealing the amount raised. For those who don’t recall, all of the artists that performed gave their time and money to the event, which wasn’t intended to be profitable. From the beginning, it was declared that “Back to the Beginning” will donate all of its proceeds equally to the following charities: Acorn Children’s Hospice, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Cure Parkinson’s. Although the over $200 million raised is a significant amount, the livestream generated over $150 million when you take into account that over five million people paid to watch the event live, with each ticket costing about $30.
