Mötley Crüe triumph over Mick Mars in legal battle

Author Benedetta Baldin - 29.1.2026

Mick Mars, the band’s former guitarist, was decisively defeated in court by Motley Crue. Mars and the Crue have been involved in continuous legal disputes since his retirement in 2022, as per UCR. The guitarist further claimed that his former bandmates conspired to remove him from the group and were defrauding him financially. In the meantime, Motley Crue asserted that Mars was requesting 25% of the band’s tour earnings even though he was no longer a member of the group. They claimed that this demand violated a prior contract that all of the band members had signed. In addition, Mars claimed that Nikki Sixx “did not play a single note on bass” during the band’s 2022 Stadium Tour, a claim that Sixx angrily refuted during the ensuing legal disputes.

This is what a press release stated:

The arbitrator’s ruling not only vindicates the band contractually and financially but also dismantles the public narrative Mars promoted in interviews with major outlets. Mick Mars was forced to admit under oath that his statements were false, his expert confirmed that the band performed live, and Mars formally recanted his prior claims during sworn testimony. This dispute was about protecting the integrity and legacy of one of the most successful bands in rock history. With the arbitrator rejecting every claim and enforcing the parties’ agreements as written, the band has been fully vindicated—legally, financially, and factually.
