Vinny Mauro, the drummer for Motionless In White, a gold-certified industrial metalcore band, has sparked controversy with his opinions on fans recording live performances and posting the video right away for viewing, as per theprp. Mauro made this statement yesterday, July 15, on his X profile. You can go through the many comments that were left in response to the two posts mentioned above. Interestingly, the commentary also coincides with the start of Motionless In White‘s summer headline tour, during which fan-recorded footage of a few live debuts swiftly leaked online. In the harder music scene, filming during gigs has been increasingly controversial over time. Strict no-filming regulations have been enforced by Tool and its various affiliated offshoots, who have been known to oppose filming during their gigs.
the culture we have created where you film the entire set of a band with your cellphone and immediately upload it to youtube is comical to me. not hating, just kinda funny seeing 1/3 of the crowd living the show through their phone screen— Vinny Mauro (@chenzomauro) July 15, 2026
In regard to the “immediately upload to YouTube” part, It’s not about living in the moment, it’s about snatching the early views from being the first person to post something that’s new. Whatever gets the likes and subscribes up.— Chris Motionless (@ChrisMotionless) July 15, 2026
