Beyond paying homage to the metal icons, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath‘s farewell show, “Back to the Beginning”, will have additional meaning for both bands now that more performers have been included. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and the surviving members of Soundgarden have been added to the lineup for the July 5th show at Birmingham, England’s Villa Park. It will be a unique chance for both performers to return to the stage. In 2023, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith suffered a vocal cord injury that forced him to miss the band’s final tour. This caused the band to postpone their gigs and ultimately decide to cancel the rest of their tour, announcing their retirement from performing. Similarly, Soundgarden hasn’t performed live much in recent years. Following Chris Cornell’s death in 2017, the band got back together for the 2019 “I Am the Highway” tribute event. In 2022, the band members performed two songs at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute in Los Angeles, which was another tribute event.
