More details have come to light about Sam Rivers, the bassist for Limp Bizkit, who passed away last month. TMZ and theprp reports have obtained the incident report and the 911 call related to his death on October 18, 2025. According to the previously cited publication, the 48-year-old nu metal star passed away after falling in the restroom. Although the reason of his death has not yet been established, the report stated that he displayed symptoms that were consistent with having a pulmonary embolism, which is a blood clot-induced blockage of an artery in the lungs. In a tragically failed attempt to save the beloved bassist’s life, CPR was given.

Given that a prior story said Rivers was discovered unconscious in a condition of cardiac arrest, there has been a great deal of conjecture surrounding his death. Rivers’ death was described as a “attended death” call in that report. The phrase usually describes a person who is accompanied by a medical expert because they are dealing with a life-threatening sickness where death is likely to occur soon. During a previous tour, Rivers was spotted wearing a shirt that read, “fuck cancer.” His bandmate DJ Lethal posted the image to social media and echoed that stance with a statement following Rivers’ passing.

According to reports, Rivers left Limp Bizkit in 2015 after receiving a degenerative disc disease diagnosis. However, Rivers disclosed in 2020 that he left Limp Bizkit because of liver damage brought on by binge drinking. Bands like Yanni, Les Claypool, and The Jackson 5 were among his influences. Rivers mentioned that Hanoi Rocks and Liberace had a significant impact on his playing. On August 24, 2025, Rivers would play his last show with Limp Bizkit at the Leeds Festival in Leeds, England, before passing away roughly two months later.
