Florida death metal veterans Monstrosity have released their new single “The Atrophied”. The track appears on the band’s upcoming album “Screams From Beneath The Surface”, which arrives on March 13 via Metal Blade Records.
The song marks the second preview of the record and signals the band’s first studio album in seven years. Moreover, it highlights the tight musicianship and relentless speed that have defined Monstrosity since the early 1990s. Drummer and founder Lee Harrison drives the writing, while longtime guitarist Matt Barnes adds sharp riffs and shifting leads. In addition, original bassist Mark Van Erp returns to the lineup, and vocalist Ed Webb, known from Massacre, delivers a fierce performance.
Harrison explains that “The Atrophied” carries the core traits of a classic Monstrosity track. It opens with rolling drums and twisting bass lines before moving into fast blasts and heavy rhythmic turns. Meanwhile, Webb moves between deep growls and piercing screams, adding extra bite to the track. Barnes notes that the band shaped the song through steady demo exchanges. As a result, the final version feels both dynamic and focused.
The album “Screams From Beneath The Surface” came together across two well known studios. Jason Suecof handled drums, bass, and mixing at Audiohammer Studios. At the same time, the band tracked guitars and vocals at Morrisound Recording with producer Jim Morris. Therefore, the record blends modern punch with the classic Florida death metal sound.
To support the release, Monstrosity will headline the Screams Across Europe Tour 2026 with Bio-Cancer, Reject The Sickness, Deadwood. Tickets are on sale now.
