After more than a decade away from the studio, Modern Life Is War are back with “Life on the Moon”, out September 5th, 2025, via Deathwish Inc. and Iodine Recordings.
The first single, “Johnny Gone”, is now available for streaming below. The track captures the chaos of modern existence—part protest anthem, part surreal character study—with a restless energy that channels existential dread into defiant momentum.
The album is a reflection on grief, struggle, and the strange beauty of life—where dreams blur into nightmares and memories tangle with desire. It’s raw, poetic, and emotionally charged, continuing the band’s tradition of blending hardcore intensity with deeper narrative threads.
Crafted over several years with longtime collaborator Brooks Strause, “Life on the Moon” is both a catharsis and a reinvention. Strings, synths, and saxophone expand the sound without losing the band’s core grit. The album features contributions from Angie Barr, Pete Balestrieri, Ryan Patterson, and more, alongside the band’s lineup: Jeffrey Eaton, John Eich, Bo Becker, Chris Honeck, and Luke Rauch.
Produced by the band and Strause, and recorded across studios in Chicago, Seattle, Iowa, and Louisville, the album stays true to the spirit that’s defined Modern Life Is War—unflinching, intense, and completely their own.
