Devourment is a Dallas, Texas-based American death metal group. Drummer Brad Fincher is the only original member of the band, which was founded in 1995 but has since broken up and reconvened three times. Fincher, bassist Dave Spencer, guitarist Chris Andrews, and vocalist Ruben Rosas make up the current lineup. The group was previously signed to Corpse Gristle Records, United Guttural, and Brutal Bands before joining Relapse Records. Other labels have also reprinted albums by Devourment.
Devourment released an album called “Molesting the Decapitated” and a demo called Impaled since the band’s founding before breaking up because vocalist Ruben Rosas was incarcerated. The band briefly reformed while he was incarcerated, during which time the compilation album “1.3.8” was first released, and again after his release in 2002. Since their third reunion in 2005, the band has put out two “1.3.8” reissues, two DVDs, and four full-length albums: “Butcher the Weak”, “Unleash the Carnivore”, “Conceived in Sewage”, and “Obscene Majesty”.
