Mick Rock, who photographed many legendary rock musicians during his career, has died aged 72. Rock’s death is confirmed on his official social media accounts.

Rock was known as “the man who photographed the 70s” and during his career he photographed David Bowie, Queen, The Ramones, Lou Reed, Blondie, Mötley Crüe and many others.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share our beloved psychedelic renegade Mick Rock has made the Jungian journey to the other side. Those who had the pleasure of existing in his orbit, know that Mick was always so much more than ’The Man Who Shot The 70s.’ He was a photographic poet — a true force of nature who spent his days doing exactly what he loved, always in his own delightfully outrageous way”, says Instagram post on Rock’s page.

Although Rock’s most famous shots were in the 70s, he continued to work until these days. Later in his career, he shot The Black Keys, Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg, Queens Of The Stone Age and Lady Gaga, among others.
