Below is a professionally recorded footage of Metallica singing “Holier Than Thou” at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia on November 1, 2025, as per blabbermouth.net. For the first time in over ten years, Metallica has performed in Australia. Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies provided support during the journey. According to PerthNow, the Perth concert organizers anticipated that around 60,000 tickets would be sold out before the performance.

After allegedly mounting a central tower within Optus Stadium during the band’s performance, two Metallica fans were taken into custody and charged with trespassing. A 23-year-old male from Australind and a 20-year-old man from Carey Park were taken out of the venue and were to appear in court for the risky act. Police told the shirtless men to get down before detaining them and removing them out of the performance, according to images and video from the scene posted by 10 News.

Following Perth, Metallica’s Australian tour proceeded to Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, November 5, Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on Saturday, November 8, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Wednesday, November 12, and Accor Stadium in Sydney on Saturday, November 15. On Wednesday, November 19, Metallica will also play at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.

The last time Metallica performed in Australia was in 2013 as the main act at the Soundwave Festival. Metallica’s 2023 album “72 Seasons” inspired the name of their “M72” world tour, which included the Australian concerts. Heavy metal superstars performed at the end of stadiums during Live Nation’s “M72” Australian stadium tour, with the band’s notorious Snake Pit extending from the front of the stage. The Australian and New Zealand performances were advertised as “One Night Only,” although the remainder of Metallica’s 2024 and 2025 world tour dates featured the “No-Repeat Weekend” setlists, in which the James Hetfield-led band performed in the same city for two nights and switched up its setlists each night.
