Metallica drops early versions and live cuts ahead of ‘Load’ reissue

When it comes to showcasing their forthcoming fully remastered deluxe edition of their album “Load,” Metallica has an abundance of songs to pick from. “Load” caused a rift among fans as it moved into hard rock and alternative area. Metallica also underwent a significant visual makeover during that album cycle, wearing makeup and cutting their hair short, which added to the controversy. 245 of the 301 recordings on the set celebrating had never been published before. When the package releases on June 13th, 233 of those songs will be available for streaming. The band has only lately started to share some of the supplementary offers, even though the remastered versions of “Hero Of The Day” and “Until It Sleeps” have already been released. You may listen to “Mouldy,” an early instrumental version of “Hero Of The Day,” below. “F.O.B.D.”, a clumsy parody of “Until It Sleeps,” is also available. This most recent wave of content from the box set concludes with live video of a performance of “2 x 4” in London, England in August 1995 and audio from a 1996 performance of “Until It Sleeps” and Slim’s in San Francisco, California.
