Finland’s pristine nature and rich cultural landscape have inspired countless metal bands. Here are some must-visit locations for metal music enthusiasts:

Children of Bodom fans can visit the infamous Lake Bodom in Espoo, which gave the legendary band its name. The lake is part of the popular Oittaa Outdoor Area and Nuuksio’s Lake Uplands. While there, you can also explore Tapiola, the band’s home neighborhood and one of Finland’s 27 official national landscapes.

Nightwish enthusiasts should head to Kitee, where they can explore “A Nightwish Story” exhibition showcasing the band’s history. For a unique experience, visit Röskö Camp Center, where the band recorded several albums and filmed parts of their “Élan” music video.

In Rovaniemi, Lordi fans can visit the renamed Lordi Square (formerly Sampo Square), featuring the band members’ handprints and autographs in cement – a tribute to their historic Eurovision victory.

For those interested in history and metal, Sabaton‘s “Talvisota” brings attention to several Winter War monuments and museums throughout Finland, including the stunning Winter War Museum in Suomussalmi and the National Winter War Memorial in Helsinki.
