Peruvian alt rockers Meerkat have unveiled their new single, “To Hell and Back“. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming debut album “Love & Other Tragedies”. Watch the official music video below.

This first preview comes after the Lima-based group recorded their debut album following a successful crowdfunding campaign on the Ko-Fi platform. Supporters from all over the world contributed to the campaign, which reached 100 per cent of its target.

Bursting onto the scene with raw, untamed energy and a rock ’n’ roll spirit, Meerkat is fueled by heavy riffs, punchy grooves, and lyrics that cut deep. They’re shaking up the status quo one anthem at a time. Blending gritty melodies with explosive hooks, the quartet delivers music that sticks with you—loud, unapologetic, and impossible to ignore.

Emerging from Lima with a sound that feels anything but local, Meerkat is redefining what it means to be a rock band from the Global South. Their bold aesthetic, gothic flair, and magnetic stage presence have quickly turned heads, both on and off stage. With a growing fanbase across borders, they’re not chasing trends. They’re making rock.

Fronted by the hauntingly powerful voice of Areli Garcia, the band channels its energy through Antoni Olivera’s pulsing bass, Charlie Bardem’s fierce, precise drumming, and Yaco Canessa’s dark, cinematic guitar riffs. Together, they craft songs that echo with drama, beauty, and bite—made for anyone, anywhere, who still believes in the power of rock music. The Peruvian unit played their debut gig on 29 February 2024 at the Iwanna Rock Bar.

Now deep into creating their first full-length album, the band is entering a new chapter in sound and vision. Fully independent, Meerkat is bringing the record to life through a crowdfunding campaign that has already received strong support from fans worldwide. It’s more than an album—it’s a shared journey with a growing global community that believes in what they’re building.
