Following bassist Victoria De Angelis and vocalist Damiano David, Måneskin guitarist Thomas Raggi is now also embarking on a solo career. His solo debut album “Masquerade” is set for a release as early as 5 December 2025 via Sony Music Italy. “Masquerade” was entirely produced by Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello and features guest musicians such as Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Matt Sorum (Guns N’ Roses / Velvet Revolver), Hama Okamoto (Okamoto’s), Kasabian‘s Sergio Pizzorno, The Struts‘ Luke Spiller, The Prodigy‘s Maxim and Franz Ferdinand‘s Alex Kapranos, to name but a few. The collaboration with the latter is a cover version of the Dead Or Alive hit “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)“:
“I was really chuffed when Thomas and Tom asked me to join them on this recording of You Spin Me Round. I remember when I was a kid, hearing that song for the first time and absolutely adoring it. I’ve loved that song my entire life and have sung it at karaoke on several occasions. When they sent me the initial recording they had made, I loved it! Particularly the section with the guitar solo in the middle. I thought, ‘This is what a cover should be like.’ It should capture the energy of the song but also bring something different, a bit of personality and this definitely has that. I hope people enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.”
– Alex Kapranos
It’s not the first time Thomas Raggi and Tom Morello have collaborated, having previously teamed up on Måneskin‘s 2023 single “Gossip“. In an interview with Kerrang!, Tom Morello describes “Masquerade” as Thomas Raggi‘s opportunity “to be a missionary for rock’n’roll”:
“You know that the younger audience that Måneskin has have already been exposed to the glory, the power, the sexiness, the appeal of rock’n’roll […] This project takes that even one step further in helping Thomas to forge a record that honours his influences and brings new, exciting rock into 2025 and beyond.”
