Malevolence unveil World of Warcraft collaboration ‘Twelve To Midnight’

UK metal titans Malevolence have unveiled ‘Twelve To Midnight’, a brand-new track written and recorded in just twelve hours as part of a bold collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment for World of Warcraft®: Midnight™, the 12th expansion and second chapter of the epic World Soul Saga.
The partnership builds on a creative spark first ignited at Download Festival, where Blizzard and Jackson Guitars surprised guitarist Konan Hall (“Kon”), an outspoken and passionate World of Warcraft devotee, with a custom WoW-inspired guitar designed around his in-game character, a Dwarf Paladin. Recognising Kon’s genuine love for the game, the next step felt inevitable.
Blizzard challenged the band to capture the scale and tension of Midnight – where Xal’atath’s rising Void threatens Azeroth and a devastating storm looms over the Sunwell – and to do it against the clock. Malevolence accepted without hesitation, channeling the looming horror of the Void Storm and drama of Midnight into an original composition. Known for consistently pushing creative boundaries, Malevolence embraced the challenge wholeheartedly.
The result: ‘Twelve To Midnight’, a crushing, cinematic track that mirrors the urgency and high-stakes drama of the expansion’s storyline.
Fans can now watch the entire process unfold in a dynamic making-of video, documenting the band’s real-time songwriting journey, from first riffs to full playthrough, as Alex, Wilkie, Kon, Josh and Charlie race to complete the track within twelve hours.
The release also sends a clear message to Malevolence fans: after surprising listeners earlier this month with their Valentine’s “ballad” ‘Silhouette’, the band are still delivering punishingly heavy music.
