The acclaimed multi-platinum alternative metal band Deftones has collaborated with Los Jaguares, an emerging soccer team originating from the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, California, where the band also developed during their early years. The new jerseys will function as the official uniforms for the team in the upcoming season, with a portion of the revenue from the limited-edition merchandise set to benefit the team. Los Jaguares represent an underserved community in one of California’s lowest-income districts. For these athletes, soccer is a vital source of pride and community, as reflected in their rallying cry: “Who are we? Familia.”
When we heard about this group of kids growing up in our hometown in need of support, we jumped at the opportunity. Soccer and music are both about connection and expression, and having a strong community that nourishes this during developmental years is so important. We’re stoked to be able to give back and make a positive change in their lives, and our hope is to encourage them to continue pursuing their dreams despite any odds
