A possible release date for “Look Outside Your Window” has surfaced online ahead of its debut, indicating that the long-discussed project by Slipknot members will finally see the light of day this year, as per MetalInjection. The album is scheduled to be released on June 12 at 8 AM, with vinyl and CD versions currently confirmed, according to a listing that fans saw on Record Store Day’s online marketplace. The listing also contains a go live date of May 19, indicating that pre-orders or more announcements may be made at that time, even though the band has not yet formally announced the release. The album’s availability on streaming services is still up in the air.
Prior to that, the first official look at the project in physical form will be provided by a limited printing of 2,300 vinyl copies that will only be available for Record Store Day on April 18. “Look Outside Your Window” was created in the late 2000s during sessions for 2008’s “All Hope Is Gone” by Shawn Crahan, Corey Taylor, Jim Root, and Sid Wilson. The music has apparently veered closer to alternative and art rock area, with Taylor previously comparing it to Radiohead. It has long been described as being more melodic and adventurous than the band’s main output.
The truth is: while we were making that album, Jim and I – who were the only two out of all nine original members who came to the studio – were there every day, from the beginning to the end. And then Corey and Sid became a part of it, and all four of us became a part of it – it wasn’t just any one person’s. It became ours. And because of that, we played it for a lot of people and we said, ‘What do you think?’ And these people would always say, ‘It’s not Slipknot.’ – Shawn Crahan
