This past weekend, Linkin Park made their live debut with a new song called “Heavy Is The Crown“. The song will be on the nu metal band’s upcoming album, “From Zero”, which is scheduled for release on November 15th via Warners. The track is scheduled for formal release on September 24th, 8 am PT. The band’s debut track, “The Emptiness Machine“, which features new drummer Colin Brittain and vocalist Emily Armstrong, frontwoman of LA rock band Dead Sara, precedes the publication of “Heavy Is The Crown“. “Heavy Is The Crown” was previewed by Armstrong and company at their recent performance at Hamburg’s Barclays Arena yesterday. They performed a variety of well-loved fan favourites, such as “Numb“, “What I’ve Done“, “In the End“, and “One Step Closer“, in addition to brand-new songs. It has been revealed by guitarist and vocalist Mike Shinoda that the song will serve as the League of Legends World Championship anthem. Linkin Park‘s next show is scheduled for tomorrow, September 24th, at London’s O2 Arena. From there, they will tour South Korea on September 28th and Colombia on November 11th.
It’s been an amazing experience partnering with Riot to bring this anthem to the global League of Legends community. The song is a real highlight of this new era for us, harnessing our signature sound and infusing it with fresh energy. We’re so excited for players and fans to experience this! Mike Shinoda
The Worlds anthem is the music moment that League players look forward to the most each year, and it has become a highly coveted fixture in music across the world. As the band embarks on this exciting new chapter, we’re honoured to partner with them for the 2024 anthem. The lyrics for Heavy Is The Crown perfectly capture the narrative for this year’s Worlds and they are a powerful companion to the themes of our music video.
