LIK has announced that their drummer Chris Barkensjö has decided to part ways with the band. But worry not, there is already a replacement lined up. This is the statement of the band:
Chris Barkensjö has decided to part ways with LIK. It’s been one hell of a ride and we will forever have some fond memories to look back upon. We wish him the very best in his adventures ahead.
Handling the drum duties on our upcoming shows will be none other than Waltteri Väyrynen from Opeth.
Chris’s statement:
”Thank you & good bye!
I have decided to step away from the band I´ve been a founding member of since 2014.
My reason is simple and honest: it’s no longer fun for me, and I no longer have the energy required to continue in a way that feels right & honest. I don’t want to stay out of habit or obligation. The band deserves full commitment, and I’m no longer in a position to give that.
This decision isn’t about conflict, bitterness, or a lack of respect — quite the opposite. It’s out of respect for the band and for myself that I’ve chosen to step aside. But my passion for playing drums remains unchanged.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey since 2014.
I wish the band nothing but the best moving forward.
Cheerio!
/Chris”

The band was formed in 2014. In October of the following year, the group’s debut album was released by War Anthem Records under the name “Mass Funeral Evocation”. They then signed a record deal with Metal Blade Records, which released their second album, “Carnage”, in early May 2018. It was recorded under the direction of Lawrence Mackrory at Dugout Studios in Uppsala. Daniel Bergstrand served as assistant sound engineer. During their career, the band has performed live at the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival in Finland, Metaldays in Slovenia, and the Gefle Metal Festival in Sweden, among others. They have also shared the stage with groups such as Overtorture and Swallow the Sun.
