The undisputed voice of Anarco punk, Leftöver Crack has released a new single “White Guilt Atrocity Quilt”, which hits hard with both its sound and its message. The song takes a firm stance on the bloody history of white Americans, bringing to light the legacy of colonialism, slavery, indigenous oppression and other injustices. The song doesn’t twist and turn, but slams the truths down relentlessly.
According to Sturgeon, it is above all about how Europeans and their descendants, who saw themselves as ‘liberators’, have built their power by oppressing others. The song deals with everything from genocide and rape to economic exploitation and promises that were never kept – all to feed the power-hunger of a privileged elite.
The new single is accompanied by the digital b-side “Brad Sabbath”, which in turn rants about the wrongs done under the guise of religion. Sturgeon describes the song as a critique of the following of gods and how religious interpretations have justified a shocking amount of violence and suffering.
The band’s 2004 album “Fuck World Trade” and 2015 album “Constructs of the State” will receive new vinyl releases on July 25 via Sbäm Records.
Both songs are now available to listen to below, as well as on the streaming service
