Music certainly has the ability to transport us from reality into other realms, and it looks like from now on, it will also accompany us on our trips. Finnish artist Lauri Porra (Stratovarius) will soon release an album that will be played on Finnair flights. This is his statement on his social media channels.
I’ve recently been working on something very secret and special, a new musical world and identity for Finnair.
In many ways, this has been a dream job for me. I’ve spent countless hours on Finnair flights and have long dreamed of writing and curating an audio experience for a journey like this. Now it has travelled from my headphones to the speakers of the plane, and you’ll hear the music on upcoming Finnair flights.
The album consists of 13 pieces spanning a 45-minute arc. We are calling it Matkantekijä: Music for Travellers. (Yes, it’s a nod to Eno.) The album will also be released on Spotify today on Friday. I hope it brings you as much joy as I had making it.
Thank you to Finnair for the trust and the opportunity, and to the incredible team I had the privilege to work with:
