After setting the Eesti Laul grand final stage ablaze, Estonian rock powerhouse Laura Prits is showing no signs of slowing down. If latex straps, metal riffs and spikes were not outrageous enough already her brand-new single “Mixed Signals” takes things to an entirely new level. Alongside Laura’s unmistakably rich vocal tone, listeners can expect everything from cuckoo-clock sounds to hysterical screams without sacrificing the crushing metal riffs that hit exactly as hard as fans would hope.

True to Laura Prits signature style “Mixed Signals” bursts with fearless and unapologetic energy. Yet beneath the chaos and intensity lies a surprising sense of vulnerability. The track was created in collaboration with acclaimed producer Sander Sadam who also handled the song’s mixing and mastering.

According to Laura the song began to take shape after hearing Sander experiment with guitar and drum arrangements. “I immediately pictured a very real-life situation a woman trying to have a conversation with her partner, but asking for it in a rather irritated tone. We all know that when a woman says ‘’We need to talk’’ most men instinctively try to escape the situation,” Laura laughs.

Mixed Signals” draws inspiration from both Laura’s personal experiences and the adventurous dating stories shared by those close to her. “To me, the song is about how it’s always easier to see someone else as the villain instead of being honest with yourself,” Laura explains. “It’s also about how an unfinished relationship can continue living rent-free in your mind, turning an ex-partner into a kind of saboteur in your thoughts. But in reality that image is often just a reflection of your own insecurities.”

The release is accompanied by a dizzyingly colorful music video. The team discovered the perfect filming location inside the restroom of Bad Pen Pal Tattoo tattoo studio in Tallinn, where director Alvar Haug shot the video while Laura and drummer Mikk Simson delivered striking on-camera performances.

With “Mixed SignalsLaura Prits once again proves that she is unafraid to push boundaries blending theatrical chaos, raw emotion and thunderous rock energy into a track that is impossible to ignore.
