Singer Andrew Freeman has been let go from the band Last In Line, which was founded by original Dio members Vinny Appice (drums) and Vivian Campbell (guitar), as per Blabbermouth. Freeman was a founding member of Last In Line, which he founded in 2012 with Appice, Campbell, and bassist Jimmy Bain, who were co-writers and conspirators with Ronnie James Dio on the albums “Holy Diver,” “Last In Line,” and “Sacred Heart.” The original goal of Last In Line was to reunite the original Dio lineup in order to honor Ronnie James Dio‘s early work. The band made the decision to move forward and produce new music in a similar style after performing live with a set list made up only of songs from the first three Dio albums.

In a recent interview with the rock and metal podcast Denim and Leather, Appice revealed Freeman’s exit from Last In Line.

We’re looking for a singer for Last In Line. So, Phil, Vivian and myself, we’re on the lookout and listening to different singers.

Vinny responded as follows when asked if Last In Line has any plans to make a new album as a sequel to “Jericho,” which was released through earMUSIC in March 2023.

Yeah. We have a deal in place with earMUSIC, but we’re making this change. And we’re gonna wait until we settle down with a new singer and write some stuff and then record it. And then do some dates.

Following Ronnie James Dio‘s death in 2010, Campbell initiated the plan to get the original Dio members back together for the first time since he left the group in 1986. When he joined Appice, Bain, and Schnell for a jam session with singer Andrew Freeman in February 2012, the concept was realized. The band started playing live in May 2012 under the moniker Last in Line, which was inspired by Dio‘s second album. Before Campbell had to rejoin Def Leppard on their 2012 Rock of Ages Tour, which commenced in December, rehearsals continued in the ensuing weeks.
