Lamb of God share their worries about the world in their new album

Author Benedetta Baldin - 22.1.2026

“Into Oblivion,” the title of Lamb Of God‘s eleventh full-length album, is both a proclamation and a somber commentary on the direction Randy Blythe, the band’s leader, believes the world is taking, as per theprp.

Because that’s where we’re heading. In general, the album is about the ongoing and rapid breakdown of the social contract, particularly here in America. Things are acceptable now that would’ve horrified people just 20 years ago.

Blythe has expanded on his worries in a recent interview with Kerrang!. In an effort to re-establish a connection with reality, he and his spouse have severely restricted their internet access and given up on social media, prioritizing physical needs before computer access. Blythe does, however, provide himself access to daily summaries of global news and other content on the internet. He appears to be troubled by what he sees as he checks on.

I am not happy with the way the world is right now. We are careening towards some sort of crash, and there are people who not only recognize this, but are trying to hasten it in order to profit from it. [With] the distribution of wealth, the gap is getting wider and wider and wider and wider. I don’t just think that’s true: that’s a fact. We need to learn how important we are to one another. Because the super-rich aren’t going to help you.

This is the moment at which empires fall. We’ve seen this again and again and again. So without sounding too doomsday-ish, I think we’re in late-stage capitalism, and I don’t think it’s going to end well.

Blythe made this claim, citing the catastrophe capitalism that emerged after Hurricane Katrina.

There are obscenely wealthy people dictating policy, whose only concern is enriching themselves.

The original residents of the impacted areas were eventually priced out when new, more costly projects were built, even as profiteers moved in and purchased the land where people’s homes had been destroyed in that natural disaster.

These people know that things are fucked up, and their answer to this is to become as rich as they can in order to isolate themselves and protect themselves from the rest of the populace.

Blythe is nevertheless optimistic that society might advance in some positive ways by avoiding algorithmic anger bait and reestablishing links with their local communities. Over at Kerrang!, he has discussed his opinions on the status of the world today and many other topics pertaining to “Into Oblivion.” The current release date for that record is March 13th.
