Korn is going back to basics for their next album, currently in the works. During this past weekend’s Download Festival in the UK, guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer revealed that the band is recording the entire album on tape — live in the studio, all together in one room. The goal is to capture the raw energy and chemistry that defined their early records, embracing a more hands-on, analog process.

The band recently marked the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut with a special one-night show in Los Angeles on October 5, 2024, joined by Evanescence, Gojira, Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway, Spiritbox, and Vended.

Their last full-length, “Requiem,” dropped in February 2022 and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart. Despite not touring with the band since 2021, longtime bassist Fieldy still played on the record, with Suicidal Tendencies’ Ra Díaz filling in on the road.
