On their first performance in almost two years, KISS honored Ace Frehley, as reported by blabbermouth.net. On Friday, November 14, the renowned rock stars began the “KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas” with an unplugged outdoor concert at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. In remembrance of the original KISS guitarist, who passed away last month at the age of 74, KISS leader Paul Stanley requested audience members to raise the electric candles that were distributed to everyone before the performance.
Before we get going, we just wanted to take a moment to think about somebody who is at the foundation of this band. And we’re talking about Ace. So, we certainly had differences, but that’s what family is about. And why don’t we take a moment, a little quiet, to think about him looking down on us — from [the planet] Jendell, probably — and let’s have a moment for Ace. Candles up.
Setlist:
This weekend’s electrifying “unmasked” performance by Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer, and Tommy Thayer will be the first time KISS has played together since they stopped touring in December 2023.
Co-produced by Pophouse, Topeka, and Vibee, this unique KISS Army fan event honors the band’s five-decade history as well as the organization’s 50th anniversary. Quiet Riot, Stephen Pearcy, and Warren DeMartini will perform songs by Ratt, Bruce Kulick, Sebastian Bach, Black ‘N Blue, Kuarantine, School of Rock, and more during the weekend in addition to the “unmasked” performances.
In 2021 and 2022, KISS had scheduled a 12-show residency at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas; however, all of the dates were eventually cancelled.
In an interview with Rolling Stone in November 2023, Simmons stated that the second Madison Square Garden “End Of The Road” performance would be “the final KISS-in-makeup appearance.“
