The new single “Black Magick Rock ‘N’ Roll” by Finnish industrial metal pioneers King Satan was produced in partnership with an unexpected artist: Erja Lyytinen, a world-renowned blues and guitar virtuoso, makes a guest appearance, as per Inferno.

We happened to play at the same festival, Saarihelvetti, and saw each other’s shows—we really dug what we saw and heard. Our energies clicked so well that I asked her to guest on one of our tracks. The song needed a little rock ’n’ roll, and if anyone knew how to conjure that up, it was Erja! We listened to her solos with our mouths agape, and I still can’t quite believe that one of Finland’s greatest guitarists did us the honor of playing on our track. She’s an amazing person. – King Aleister Satan.

During the break from the German tour, Lyytinen recorded her own solo parts in his Dortmund hotel room. The maestro was also motivated to try something a little more unusual on the instrumental side by this unusual partnership.

When I was asked to play on King Satan’s latest single, I was totally blown away by the idea. I knew the band from metal festivals, the song had a killer groove, and I could really hear the slide guitar shredding in it. I decided to do something wild, since the song has a crazy vibe to it anyway. The ending solo is quite a romp—I’m playing Whammy and Wah pedals at the same time and tapping on the slide.

I wondered what my bandmates would think of the final result, since this was something I hadn’t done on a recording before, but apparently the solo was exactly what they were looking for. This song brings together a lot of interesting themes and energy, and since I’m a high-energy person myself, it felt natural to jump into this wild metal disco frenzy. – Erja Lyytinen
