American metal force King 810 have always had an innate ability to keep their hungry fanbase on their toes, and today’s grand unveiling is no exception. Following the band’s heavy touring schedule across the UK, Europe and USA and the surprise release of recent single ‘HUNGRY GODS‘, the band have today announced their forthcoming new opus, “La Grande Mort or Silence of God”.
Accompanying the album announcement is the quartet’s new single, ‘Love Kills’, which arrives alongside a lavish and ominous music video. The track – a dark and twisted affair that waltzes over industrial undertones – was written about the most dangerous game us animals play; love.
On the single’s themes, vocalist and songwriter DavidGunn muses:
“’LOVE KILLS’ reveals there is no ceremonial difference between weddings and funerals. There’s a type of devotion that doesn’t care whether the other person is alive to receive it. That’s what this song is – love that outlives the need for consent from the ultimate authority: death.”

Set for release on 27th November, “La Grande Mort or Silence of God” serves as the sister record to 2016’s critically acclaimed sophomore work “La Petite Mort or A Conversation With God”, both celebrating the album’s legacy and continuing its harrowing, heartbreaking and brutally honest story.
“La Petite Mort” broke new ground for both King 810 and heavy music. It represents the real life violence and despair linked to the band’s home of Flint, Michigan, and the steady desensitisation of the human spirit when facing it head-on. That concept has darkness, desperation and intense intimacy in its orbit, portrayed with a blend of spoken word, industrial tones, metallic density and raw authenticity that earned the record widespread critical praise.
A decade on from its release and recorded alongside longtime collaborator Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Frozen Soul, Varials), “La Grande Mort” is a violent evolution that re-examines its counterparts themes through a now rusted lens. Its visceral and unrelenting landscape has come into focus once again for the next chapter of the story.
Speaking on the new album’s inspiration, Gunn shares:
“Ten years ago, we explored ‘the little death’ – a phrase the French use to describe orgasm – in a sexually charged body of work. This year, we experience the silence of God. The little death was only a rehearsal for the big death.
“The record is about two lovers and their inconceivably dark relationship. In keeping with the French, it explores the themes of folie à deux (madness shared by two) and l’amour fou (mad love) to their deepest depths. If only one didn’t have to experience these events to articulate them.
“The two individuals whose story is told in this work of non-fiction suffer from enmeshment — what happens when the boundaries between two people become so blurred that individuality starts to disappear. I also play with the idea of decalcomania — adapted from the French décalcomanie, equivalent to décalquer, ‘to transfer a tracing of,’ plus the English ‘-mania.’ Perhaps this can occur at inconceivable heights of creation, where a single soul may be imprinted on two separate individuals.”
“La Grande Mort or Silence of God” will be available on various physical formats and across all major streaming platforms. For more information, head to the band’s website here.
