Kill The Lights withdraw from touring with As I Lay Dying
In a statement released today, September 8, Kill The Lights stated that they had been forced to cancel their participation in As I Lay Dying‘s November U.S. tour commemorating 20 years of “Shadows Are Security”, as per theprp. They have not yet been replaced on the bill as of the time of publication.
After a great deal of thought, we’ve made the difficult decision to withdraw from our upcoming U.S. tour in November due to unforeseen financial circumstances around production and travels costs that are too much to carry for the band at the moment.
We’re sorry to everyone who was planning to come out and see us. Thank you for your continued support and understanding, it means everything to us. We can’t wait to get back on the road and see you all soon.
After Michael Thomas left Bullet for My Valentine in 2016, Kill the Lights was founded. Thomas expressed his desire to get back to a more organic and heavy metal sound. James Clark (vocals), Jordan Whelan (guitar), Travis Montgomery (guitar), and Davey Richmond (bass) made comprised the original lineup. “The Faceless” was the band’s first single, which was released in January 2019. Colin Richardson produced the band’s first studio album, “The Sinner”, which was released on August 21, 2020. Bassist Davey Richmond left the group after “The Sinner” was released. Chris Clancy contributed to the production and briefly joined as bassist.
Jason “Jay” James, a former bassist for Bullet for My Valentine, formally joined Kill the Lights in 2021. Fearless Records published the band’s second album, “Death Melodies”, on March 8, 2024. Colin Richardson and Chris Clancy produced the album, which was recorded in Canada, Minneapolis, and the UK. The album’s themes include addiction, anxiety, depression, and personal hardship. According to some, Kill the Lights is a melodic metalcore band heavily influenced by classic heavy metal. Dual-guitar harmonies, thrash-inspired riffs, and a blend of aggressive and clean vocals are all part of their style.
