The Swedish dark metal band Katatonia had to cancel yesterday’s Seattle show of their joint North American tour with Opeth due to a broken tour bus:
“Dear people of Seattle, Unfortunately our tour bus broke down in Eugene, OR and had to be towed to service. Despite our best efforts and the garage doing what they could, it’s not going to be ready in time for us to make it to the gig. We are all very disappointed that we couldn’t be there with Opeth and you fine people tonight, but these things happen and it’s sadly out of our control. Hope to see you soon!”

The Swedish progressive metallers Opeth added that “sadly our friends Katatonia won’t make it to the show”. Tonight’s show in the Canadian city of Vancouver marks the final date of the joint North American tour, and it has just been confirmed that Katatonia will be able to perform:
“UPDATE FROM THE ROAD: The bus is rolling and currently ~30 minutes from the Canadian border. The band is asleep. We considered waking them for photographic evidence, but chose life instead. Vancouver tonight is happening. See you there.”

Right from the start of the tour, Katatonia had to improvise, as their guitarist Nico Elgstrand could not join “due to visa complications”. Henrik Palm, known for his involvement with the Swedish rock heavyweights Ghost (as well as with In Solitude and other projects) and for his solo work, stepped in to cover the role. According to Katatonia, Nico Elgstrand “will of course be back and joining us for the Latin American leg of the tour”.
