On New Year’s Eve, Joshua “Nassaru” Ward, the drummer and singer of the death metal band Voraath from North Carolina, lost his life in a drunk driving accident. According to The Independent, a vehicle struck Ward, his girlfriend, and two friends as they were leaving an SUV in a driveway on Cooley Bridge Road close to Greenville, South Carolina, on Tuesday night. The accident caused the SUV to be pushed off the road and collide with a tree. The SUV’s four occupants perished. Kai, Ward’s kid, survived him. Ward was 37 years old. Nicholas Shane Meeks, the driver of the sedan, was only slightly hurt in the crash because he had been drinking when it happened. He was charged with four counts of felony DUI involving death and driving with a suspended license after being taken into custody by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office the next day. In March 2024, Meeks was charged with another DUI, according to Lambgoat. After hearing of Ward’s passing, a GoFundMe was started to help with the funeral expenses. You can contribute by clicking here. The leftover funds will be given to Ward’s son when the costs of the memorial service and funeral are paid. Although Voraath‘s Facebook page does not currently include any messages regarding Ward’s passing, their most recent post from December 31 implied that they had been working on their sophomore album. Ward and his son were featured in the last picture on his personal page. On behalf of the whole Chaoszine team, our sincerest sympathies to Ward’s son, family, friends and loved ones.
