Drummer Josh Freese recently spoke with The New York Times about his very short tenure as the drummer for hard rock chart-topping group Foo Fighters, his subsequent dismissal from the band, and his return to industrial metal powerhouse Nine Inch Nails. Freese said there were difficulties during his instatement in the Foo Fighters camp, according to theprp.
I’m coming in as Dave Grohl’s drummer, and the guy that’s supposed to save the day after the beloved Taylor Hawkins died.
Most musicians would have been devastated to lose such a well-known performance, but Freese was a little snarky about it, posting this list in which he made jokes about the ten reasons he would have been kicked out. It appears that Freese wasn’t totally devoted to the Foo Fighters‘ music when looking back on the separation and how it transpired.
Looking back, it was probably more an issue with their management. It wasn’t music that I really resonated with.
