Iotunn‘s frontman, Jón Aldará, has said that he will be reducing the number of live appearances he does with the band for the upcoming year. Overnight, the band and Aldará released the following comments, announcing Aldará’s replacement for touring and providing an explanation for the change in plans.

STATEMENT FROM JÖN:

Due to personal reasons, I have to take a break from most* live shows in 2025.

Dont worry, though.

I will be retuming next year with full vigor, and we are working on the next IOTUNN album, which is already shaping up to be monumental.

Fortunately, the inimitable Morten Bering Bryld from Heidra has agreed to take my place for most gigs this year. He sports a stunning voice and a wonderful personality, and I feel entirely at ease with him at IOTUNN‘s helm!”

STATEMENT FROM THE BAND:

When Jön told us that he needed to step back from most of the 2025 shows it was important for all of us to meet his needs as this is the most important thing in our band, that people are well.

Since then, we have worked hard on finding the best possible replacement for these shows, and with Morten Bering Bryld we have found exactly that. Morten is a versatile vocalist with a huge force in his vocals, and we look so much forward to travelling across Europe and playing for all of you fans out there this year!

And rest assured: Jön will be singing at our Wacken Open Air concert + one yet to be announced show.

Jön is retuming in 2026 where we are planning many exciting things already. Besides the many plans regarding concerts, we are also pleased to tell you that we are working on the next IOTUNN album and more. Lots of things to come.

We hope for your understanding and thank each of you for your continued support!”

Jön will be performing with the band at Wacken Open Air + one yet TBA show.
All other shows in 2025 will be with Morten.
