Johannes Eckerstrom of Avatar reveals the artists that shaped his craft

Which bands have helped Avatar singer Johannes Eckerstrom develop his passion for live performances? The seasoned metal musicians are undoubtedly adept at putting the “show” in their performances, and in an interview with Full Metal Jackie for her weekend radio show, Eckerstrom talked about the bands he enjoys because they pay particular attention to their live performance.

Iron Maiden are certainly up there. The first trip we took as a band before going to play anywhere outside of our hometown was going to Stockholm to see Iron Maiden. We were maybe 16 and 17 years old, all of us. So they’ve been there from Day One. Halford carrying himself to this day with that type of charisma … we say you can’t teach that. But he gets more and more of it every year so maybe he can at least. But trying to decipher those intangibles in him, that’s a huge thing.
