Jeff Young, the former Megadeth guitarist, has joined forces with singer Kayla Dixon on a new song for the supernatural horror film “Return To Fear”. Their collaboration, “Mirror In The Sky“, is featured over the movie’s end credits, while an accompanying music video is scheduled to debut online on November 19.
The film opened in North America on November 3, 2026. Its director, Michael Sarna, also directed the forthcoming music video. The project follows his earlier work on the Kings Of Thrash concert film “Best Of The West… Live At The Whisky A Go Go”, during which he became familiar with Young‘s playing.
Sarna subsequently invited the guitarist to write music for the new horror film. Dixon supplied the lyrics and vocal melody, while Young composed the music; the two also share vocal credits on the recording. The resulting track was written specifically to complement the film’s dark atmosphere.
When I was directing the Kings Of Thrash concert DVD, I was blown away by Jeff’s guitar playing. His talent and the emotion he puts into every note really stood out. When I was finishing ‘Return To Fear’, I knew Jeff was the perfect artist to create something special for the end credits. With Kayla’s incredible vocals and songwriting, ‘Mirror In The Sky’ became exactly what I envisioned for the film. – Michael Sarna
Heavy metal and horror were combined in the accompanying music video, which was created by Inmotion Entertainment Inc. and directed by Sarna. “Return To Fear” centers on a disturbed young lady who, upon returning to her childhood home, discovers a horrifying family curse connected to a long-standing demonic evil.
Young played on Megadeth‘s 1988 album “So Far, So Good… So What!” and has since worked on solo material as well as performing with Kings Of Thrash. The new film collaboration is a separate recording project, and no broader album announcement has been made in connection with the song.
