Drummer Barry Kerch of Shinedown provided an update on the band’s much anticipated follow-up to 2022’s “Planet Zero” album in a recent interview with The Mistress Carrie Podcast, as per Blabbermouth.

I know the announcement’s coming out this month. This month, the announcement will be made, and the album title, everything will be out there, and a date for the release will be out there this month.

With “Searchlight” coming after their massive worldwide success “Three Six Five,” which peaked at No. 1 at Alternative, Top 10 at Hot AC and AC, and Top 20 at Top 40, 2025 was a pivotal year for Shinedown. To further solidify their domination at radio, the band also released “Dance, Kid, Dance” and “Killing Fields,” both of which peaked at No. 1. In addition to being the greatest artist in the history of the chart, Shinedown currently holds the records for the most No. 1 songs on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart (21 No. 1s to date), the most No. 1s on Mediabase Active Rock chart (23 No. 1s to date), and the most Top 5s and Top 10s in the chart’s history.

Shinedown is a Hard Rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. Shinedown was formed in early 2002 by Brent Smith, Jasin Todd, Brad Stewart, and Barry Kerch. They have released seven albums on Atlantic Records: “Leave a Whisper” (2003),”Us and Them” (2005), “The Sound of Madness” (2008), “Amaryllis” (2012), “Threat to Survival” (2015) , “Attention Attention” (2018) and “Planet Zero” (2022). As of 2018, the band has had 23 Top 5 hits on Mainstream Rock radio, including 12 number one singles, and a Top 10 hit on the Hot 100 with “Second Chance”.

On July 13, 2003, the band released their debut album “Leave A Whisper”. The album sold the popular singles “Fly From The Inside” and “45“. “Leave A Whisper” was re-released on June 15, 2004, to capitalize on the strength of a new single: A cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd‘s “Simple Man“. This song is often dedicated to their friend Dimebag Darrell who died in 2004. The re-release also featured an acoustic version of “45“, and a new mix of “Burning Bright”, which was to be the fourth single from the album. During 2004, the band notably opened for Van Halen. On September 21, 2005, “Leave A Whisper” was certified as gold. On August 23, 2005, the band released a live DVD called Live From The Inside that contained a full-length Shinedown concert held at the House Of Blues in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
