Jane’s Addiction feud escalates as Perry Farrell countersues bandmates within hours

Things have once again taken a dramatic turn in the Jane’s Addiction camp. Just hours after Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins sued frontman Perry Farrell for over $10 million in damages, Farrell fired back with a lawsuit of his own.

The bandmates’ initial lawsuit stems from an onstage altercation last September in Boston, which led to the abrupt cancellation of their reunion tour. Their claims include assault and battery, breach of contract, and emotional distress—alleging Farrell’s behavior, including frequent intoxication onstage, made it impossible to perform reliably.

Farrell’s suit, filed the same day, accuses Navarro and Avery of physical aggression during the Boston show and of creating a hostile environment by intentionally sabotaging his performances. He also claims the other three members unilaterally canceled the tour without his input, using him as a scapegoat and violating professional agreements.

Both lawsuits paint wildly different pictures of what led to the tour’s collapse. While Navarro, Avery, and Perkins say Farrell’s conduct ruined the group, Farrell says he was undermined and bullied for years—culminating in violence and betrayal.

The breakdown comes just months after the band released new singles “Imminent Redemption” and “True Love,” their first original material with the classic lineup in over a decade. Navarro, Avery, and Perkins have since moved on without Farrell, calling the fallout permanent.
