Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction have filed a $10 million lawsuit against frontman Perry Farrell, claiming an onstage fight in Boston last September torpedoed their tour and derailed plans for a new album. The suit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, includes allegations of assault and battery, emotional distress, negligence, and breach of contract.
According to the bandmates, Farrell’s behavior had become increasingly erratic, fueled by alcohol and outbursts that disrupted performances. The lawsuit states he would drink wine onstage, slur his speech, and go on rambling monologues. Things came to a head on September 13th, 2024, when Farrell allegedly shoved and threw a punch at Navarro during their show, later repeating the aggression backstage.
The band canceled the rest of the tour soon after, citing a pattern of behavior and concern for their safety. Farrell later issued a public apology, admitting his actions were inexcusable. Despite having just released two new tracks—“Imminent Redemption” and “True Love”—plans for a full comeback album were scrapped. The lawsuit claims Farrell’s actions left the rest of the band financially and creatively stranded.
Navarro, Avery, and Perkins have since moved on without Farrell, calling the fallout permanent.
