James LoMenzo, who replaced David Ellefson, initially had problems arranging the gig

Metal band Megadeth fired their bassist David Ellefson last year after a controversy surrounding him. James LoMenzo, who has played in the band before, was quickly found as a replacement.

LoMenzo last played with the thrash veteran between 2006 and 2010, and was featured on the albums “United Abominations” and “Endgame”. Since then, LoMenzo has played with John Fogerty’s band for almost ten years.

It is therefore understandable that LoMenzo had to make some arrangements to support a big band on such short notice.

“Dave’s management reached out at first to see if I’d even be available, which I really wasn’t, but after a call with Dave I realized how important for Megadeth and even for myself this would be. Time was ticking, so I knew it would be a crunch, but having been here once before the re-learning curve was a tad less steep. I made some arrangements with the Fogerty camp, and they were gracious enough to allow me a leave to do this”, LoMenzo tells to Melodic.
