“It makes sense to have other outlets for your music by being in different bands” – Interview with Insomnium

Chaozine sat with guitarrists Ville Friman and Markus Vanhala from Insomnium in Tavastia before the second release show of their newest album “Anno 1696”. We talked about the creative process and the concept behind the record, based on a story written by vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen. We discussed the current state of the music industry in a post-pandemic world and their approach to keep things fresh by creating new music with different bands. Ville and Markus also shared their views on the contribution of third guitarrist Jani Liimatainen to the sound of the band and their upcoming plans for this year and beyond.
