It looks like All That Remains is working on new material…

The platinum-certified metalcore group All That Remains seems to have recently returned to the recording studio, as per theprp. They are in that setting, probably working on their follow-up to last year’s “Antifragile,” according to a recent post they made on social media on October 8. Given that the band parted ways with guitarist Jason Richardson last year and subsequently replaced him with Ken Susi (ex-Unearth/As I Lay Dying), this new work should indicate a musical transition.

All That Remains‘ lead singer, Phil Labonte, first sang for Shadows Fall and made an appearance on the cult classic “Sombre Eyes to the Sky”. Phil concentrated solely on All That Remains, a side project he had been working on before being asked to quit due to “musical differences”. Dan Egan was initially hired by Labonte to play bass. Later, Mike Martin, the band’s future guitarist, tried out but was not selected. Then he instructed Labonte to call Oli Herbert, his guitar instructor. After that, Herbert tried out for the band and eventually joined. Lead guitarist Chris Bartlett and drummer Michael Bartlett completed the ensemble.

“Behind Silence and Solitude”, the band’s debut album, was released by Prosthetic Records on March 26, 2002. The album has aspects of melodic death metal more heavily than their current melodic metalcore musical style, which they have had since 2006. Additionally, it was the only album in which Bartlett and Egan, the original members of the band, appeared. Shortly after the album’s release, Mike Martin, who had first tried out for the band in 1998, formally joined the group to take Bartlett’s place on guitar. All That Remains toured with Bloodlet in November 2002 and with Crematorium, Origin, and Scar Culture in December.

Prosthetic Records published their second album, “This Darkened Heart”, on March 23, 2004. The album, which was produced by guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage, was better produced than its predecessor. “This Darkened Heart,” “Tattered on My Sleeve,” and “The Deepest Grey” are the album’s three singles.
