Infectious Grooves, the funk metal outfit featuring Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and Suicidal Tendencies frontman Mike Muir, will celebrate the 35th anniversary of its debut album with a concert in Los Angeles.
The band’s first full-length, “The Plague That Makes Your Booty Move… It’s the Infectious Grooves,” arrived in 1991. Formed by Muir and Trujillo, the project brought together heavy metal, punk and funk, giving the pair an outlet for a sound distinct from their work with Suicidal Tendencies.
The group’s debut also featured a guest appearance by Ozzy Osbourne on “Therapy.” The album helped establish Infectious Grooves’ distinctive blend of bass-driven grooves, metal riffs and irreverent energy.
Trujillo and Muir have continued to bring Infectious Grooves back to the stage over the years. The band’s more recent lineup has included guitarist Dean Pleasants, guitarist Dave Kushner and drummer Jay Weinberg.
