In Mourning drops haunting new single “Song of the Cranes” from upcoming album “The Immortal”

Swedish melodic death metal force In Mourning has unleashed a brand-new single, “Song of the Cranes”, offering a powerful first taste of their upcoming album, “The Immortal”. The record is set for release on August 29th via Dalapop and Supreme Chaos Records.

Marking their seventh studio album, “The Immortal” was recorded, mixed, and mastered at the renowned Fascination Street Studios in Örebro between late 2024 and early 2025. The production was helmed by Alexander Backlund—known for his work with Dark Tranquillity, Dödsrit, and October Tide—while mastering duties were handled by Tony Lindgren, who’s collaborated with heavyweights like Sepultura, Opeth, and Wardruna.

Lyrically, the album dives deep into introspective and philosophical territory, touching on themes such as acceptance and release of grief, the cyclical nature of the seasons, and the fragile balance between life and death. According to the band, “The Immortal” serves as a meditative exploration of time, resilience, and the quiet strength that comes from embracing the impermanence of existence.

“This album became the best fusion of organic and modern metal sound I’ve ever heard. From the very beginning, I wanted to create something massive and impactful—darker than anything we’ve done before, like a cold wind blowing through the whole record, with a touch of black metal.” Says vocalist Tobias Netzell.
