Impending Doom have taken an unusual route for the release of their first full-length album in eight years. The California deathcore band are offering the 12-track “At The Throne Of God” exclusively through their own merchandise store before it reaches major streaming services on February 5, 2027.
The independently funded record is already available to purchase through the band’s official webstore. To accompany the early release, Impending Doom have shared a new song, “Nothing Will Remain”, giving listeners another preview of the material.
Rather than launching the record simultaneously across all platforms, the group is giving fans who purchase directly an early opportunity to hear the complete album. The wider digital release is scheduled for February 5, 2027, according to the announcement.
The album follows a lengthy gap between Impending Doom full-length releases, although the band has continued to issue individual songs in the meantime. Their latest release adds another chapter to their Christian deathcore catalogue.
Guitarist Manny Contreras and vocalist Brook Reeves established the musical ensemble Impending Doom on October 31, 2005. The band entered into a contractual agreement with Facedown Records in January 2007.
Their inaugural release under this label, titled “Nailed. Dead. Risen.”, attained the 46th position on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. This record has garnered predominantly favorable critiques.
To enhance their visibility, the band initiated a street team aimed at promoting their music, which is featured among their Myspace top 8. Subsequently, the group embarked on a tour across the United States in the autumn of 2007, sharing the stage with acts such as Dead to Fall, Winds of Plague, and With Dead Hands Rising.
Impending Doom unveiled their sophomore album, “The Serpent Servant”, on March 31, 2009, which ascended to the 3rd position on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart.
“Baptized in Filth” was produced by Andreas Magnusson, who previously worked on Oh, Sleeper’s album “Children of Fire,” and was mixed by Machine. The thematic content of the album centers around the concepts of divinity, malevolence, and the number associated with the beast.
The initial single released from the album was titled “For the Wicked,” while the first accompanying video was for the track “Murderer.” Several months subsequent to the release of “Baptized in Filth,” Cory Johnson was dismissed from the band and subsequently replaced by Manny Contreras, a former founding member who had joined the group Oblige, later rebranded as The Devastated, during his hiatus from Impending Doom.
Following his departure, Johnson became a member of the Christian metal ensemble MyChildren MyBride.
