Horror metal outfit Ice Nine Kills have officially completed the writing process for their upcoming horror movie titled “The Slashin’ Of The Christ”. The news was confirmed by vocalist Spencer Charnas in a recent interview with Metal Hammer.
According to Charnas, the band has now moved beyond the script stage and is already in early discussions with film studios and potential directors to bring the project to life.
While speaking about the tone of the film, Charnas emphasized that the movie will stay true to the band’s established identity. However, he also noted that the project will not take itself too seriously.
“Like everything we do, there’s horror, there’s violence, but there’s a wink to the camera,” Charnas explained. “We’re not taking ourselves too seriously, and I think the world needs a movie like this.”
As a result, fans can expect a blend of graphic horror elements and self-aware humor, much like Ice Nine Kills’ music and visuals over the past few years.
Given the film’s provocative title, Charnas was also asked whether he expects backlash from religious audiences. In response, he drew a comparison to a well-known horror classic.
“I think that it might be like ‘The Exorcist,’ which was touted by the Catholic Church because it showed on-screen what they’ve been talking about,” he said.
Therefore, while controversy may arise, Charnas believes the film could also spark discussion rather than outright offense.
In addition, Charnas revealed that he hopes to involve recognizable actors in the project. However, he remained intentionally vague about casting details.
“I certainly hope so,” he said. “And who’s to say who will live and who will die?”
At this stage, no release window or cast announcements have been revealed. Still, with the script now complete, further updates are expected as development progresses.
